i4 Solutions has developed an easy-to-deploy system to visually inspect medical device kits. The system can verify all the right components are present, and that these components have been properly assembled.

The medical device kit above shows an example. The vision system verifies:

• The pen is present
• The pen has a cap
• The pen has a label with the correct barcode
• The plunger is retracted
• The dosage is set to 0.0
• An instruction sheet having the correct barcode is present

Unlike other systems, you don’t need to be a vision system programmer to configure the pass/fail criteria for a new medical device kit. Start with a template. Let wizards step you through setting up each criteria. Thereafter, an operator or a PLC can select the kit type to be inspected.
